LISA O'NEILL THE WIND DOESN'T BLOW THIS FAR RIGHT

It must be said, that to reduce any output of Cavan-born singer and songwriter Lisa O'Neill's to words on a page will almost always feel like a kind of disservice. With that disclaimer out of the way, we can begin talk about her earth-shattering new single. Out today via Rough Trade, alongside news of a 6 track EP (which shares its title), 'The Wind Doesn't Blow This Far Right' is a masterclass in expression. Capturing the mood of the many, it's a thoughtful and empathetic rumination on today's socio-political and ecological landscape. Each word cutting to the core, O'Neill's wisdom and relatability cannot be compared; making difficult emotions and thought processes accessible and somehow less frightening, 'The thing is, some leaders are players And players sometimes can be clowns'. Featuring haunting backing vocals from fellow TMR favourite Iona Zajac, 'The Wind Doesn't Blow This Far Right' is nothing short of seminal - there we said it. The rest of the EP will be released on the 19th of November, and if that wasn't enough, there's an equally arresting video featuring some faces you may recognise available to watch below. -Holly Mullineaux
